Common questions

Everything pool owners ask us

How much does pool leak detection cost?
Flat-rate: $499 for inground pools and $399 for above-ground pools. Both include the detection and any vessel repairs we can make on site, with no trip charges.
Do you work on above-ground pools?
Yes. ProLeak provides flat-fee leak detection, equipment upgrades, openings, and closings for above-ground pools across Central Oklahoma.
Do you work on inground pools?
Yes — gunite/concrete, fiberglass, and vinyl-liner inground pools, for leak detection, equipment, safety covers, and seasonal service.
How do I know if my pool is leaking or just evaporating?
Run a bucket test: float a filled bucket on the step so the water inside matches the pool level, then compare the drop after 24 hours. If the pool drops more than the bucket, you likely have a real leak.
How much water loss is normal in an Oklahoma pool?
In a hot, dry, windy Oklahoma summer, losing roughly a quarter to half an inch a day can be normal evaporation. Consistently more than that, or loss that doesn't track the weather, usually points to a leak.
Can a vinyl liner leak be found without draining the pool?
Yes. We find liner, skimmer, return, and light-niche leaks with the pool full using dye testing and electronic detection — no draining needed in most cases.
Can you find leaks in skimmers and return lines?
Yes. Skimmers, return fittings, and return lines are among the most common leak points, and we check and test all of them.
Can you find underground pool plumbing leaks?
Yes. We pressure-test each line to isolate which one is leaking, then locate it — so any repair is targeted instead of guesswork.
Do you repair the leak after finding it?
Vessel repairs we can make on site are included in the flat rate. Larger plumbing repairs are quoted in writing before any work begins.
Do you install variable-speed pool pumps?
Yes — variable-speed pumps are our most common upgrade, for both inground and above-ground pools.
Do you install salt systems?
Yes, on salt-rated pools. We won't install salt on a pool that isn't rated for it, because it can corrode the wall and components.
Do you upgrade sand filters to cartridge filters?
Yes. We can convert to cartridge or right-size a filter that's too small for your pool and pump.
Do you install pool heat pumps and chillers?
Yes — heat pumps to extend your swim season and chillers to cool the pool in peak summer heat.
Do you offer a warranty on equipment upgrades?
Yes. The new equipment we install carries a 5-year non-prorated parts-and-labor warranty — the industry standard is one to three years, parts only.
Do you install inground pool safety covers?
Yes — custom-measured, anchored safety covers for inground pools, including replacements and closing-plus-cover packages. We focus on inground covers; for above-ground pools we handle detection, equipment, and seasonal service.
How much does an inground pool safety cover cost?
It depends on the size and shape of your pool, the cover, and the anchoring, so we measure and give a free quote.
Do you open and close inground and above-ground pools?
Yes. Inground openings and closings are $400 and above-ground are $250, plus chemicals at cost. A spa is +$150 on shared equipment or +$250 on dedicated equipment.
When should I close my pool in Oklahoma?
Most Central Oklahoma pools close between September and November, before the first hard freeze. Closing on time is what protects your plumbing and equipment from freeze damage.
Do I have to drain my pool to close it for winter?
No. We don't fully drain it — we lower the water to winter level, blow out and plug the lines, and winterize the equipment, then install your cover. Leaving a pool fully drained over winter can actually cause its own problems.
Do you install a safety cover when you close the pool?
Yes. Installing your existing cover is part of the closing, and we can install a new custom-measured inground safety cover at the same visit if you'd like one.
What cities do you service?
We serve the Oklahoma City metro and surrounding areas, including Edmond, Norman, Yukon, Mustang, Moore, Midwest City, and Nichols Hills, generally within about a 60-mile radius.
What are your hours?
We're open Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 7 PM Central time. Saturdays we run from 7 AM to 1 PM, and Sundays we're available for emergencies only.
How do I pay?
We accept card, ACH, cash, or check. Card and ACH payments go through the secure PAY NOW link on your QuickBooks invoice.
Do you do weekly pool cleaning or chemicals?
No. ProLeak focuses on leak detection, equipment upgrades, safety covers, and seasonal openings and closings — we don't run weekly cleaning or chemical-maintenance routes.
