Do I Need an Inground Pool Safety Cover?

A real inground pool safety coveris anchored taut across the pool and is built to hold the weight of a child or a pet that wanders onto it — that's the whole point, and it's what separates it from a flimsy tarp-style winter cover that floats on the water. If you have kids, pets, or grandkids around, or you just want the pool sealed off and clean all winter, it's worth it.

Safety cover vs. a regular winter cover

  • Safety cover — anchors into the deck with springs and straps, pulls drum-tight over the pool, and holds real weight. Nothing falls through. It looks clean and lasts for years.
  • Tarp-style winter cover — lays loosely on the water, held by water bags or weights. It keeps some debris out but it is not a safety barrier — water pools on top, leaves and dirt collect, and it won't stop a person or pet from going under.

What a safety cover actually does for you

  • Protects people and pets. A properly installed safety cover is a real physical barrier over the water.
  • Keeps the pool clean all winter. Leaves, dirt, and debris stay out, so you're not fishing a swamp out in the spring.
  • Makes opening cheaper and faster. A pool that stayed clean and covered opens in a fraction of the time and chemicals — it pays you back every spring.
  • Looks good. A taut, fitted cover beats a sagging tarp with a puddle on it all winter.

They're custom-measured

Safety covers aren't one-size-fits-all — they're measured and made to your exact pool shape, including steps and odd corners, and the anchors are set into your specific deck. That fit is what makes them safe and long-lasting, which is why we quote them per pool rather than off a shelf.
